The email header is the information that travels with every email, containing details about the sender, route and receiver. It is like a flight ticket: it can tell you who booked it (who sent the email), the departure information (when the email was sent), the route (from where it was sent and how did it arrive to you) and arrival details (who is the receiver and when it was received). As when you would book a flight ticket with a false identity, the same goes for emails: the sender can partially fake these details, pretending that the email was sent from a different account (common practice for spammers or viruses). |
|
It depends on your email client. Here is a comprehensive list of email client programs and methods to see the email headers. We have posted the steps for Outlook 2007 and Outlook Express below for your convenience.
[A]Microsoft Outlook 2007 users:
- Open the email message.
- Under the Message tab, in the Options group, click on the Dialog Box Launcher icon.
- In the Message Options dialog box, the headers appear in the Internet headers box.
[B]Outlook Express users:
- Double click on the spam message
- Click the "File" menu in the message window
- Click "Properties"
- Click the "Details" tab
- Click "Message Source"
To report a message as spam for the SpamWeeder system, please send the header information to analyze@webservio.com. To send the header information, please copy (Ctrl A then Ctrl C) and paste (Ctrl V) the information into a new email message. |

If you can export your contacts from Outlook to a .vcard file, you can import that file to the Email Continuity or IzzyMail Address Book. Here is an example of a few entries in a .vcard file:
BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 N:Lastname;Firstname;;; FN:Firstname Lastname EMAIL;INTERNET:firstnamelastname@domain.com NOTE:id: cn=Firstname lastname,mail=firstnamelastname@domain.com END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 EMAIL;INTERNET:jd@domain.com NOTE:id: mail=jd@domain.com FN:jd@domain.com END:VCARD
Once the .vcard file is created, log into your web-based email account.
- Select "Address Book" from the top-right navigation
- Select the import icon from the top left navigation. (This icon looks like a Rolodex card with a green up arrow.)
- Click "Browse" and navigate the the .vcard file created above.
- Click "Import"
When the import is complete, a screen will appear listing the number of contacts successfully created. If no contacts are created, please go to: http://support.webservio.net. Create a ticket and attach the .vcard file you are using for the import. |
